Caridad Moro-Gronlier is the recipient of an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship (2025) for her work as Poet Laureate of Miami-Dade County (2024–2026). She is the author of four poetry collections, including Visionware (Finishing Line Press, 2009) and Tortillera, winner of the TRP Southern Poetry Breakthrough Prize, published by Texas Review Press (2021). Her forthcoming books, Through the Lens and As to Your Comment, are scheduled for publication with Texas Review Press in 2026 and 2027. She is also a contributing editor of Grabbed: Poets and Writers Respond to Sexual Assault, Empowerment and Healing (Beacon Press, 2020).
Moro-Gronlier is a community-driven poet whose public literary work emphasizes collaboration, accessibility, and civic engagement. Her partnerships include Miami-Dade County Government, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College, Barry University, Broward College, Florida International University Honors College, the Miami-Dade Public Library System, Pérez Art Museum Miami, Vizcaya, The Wolfsonian Museum, The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at FIU, O, Miami, Miami Book Fair, Books & Books, The Cintas Foundation, Reading Queer, The Stonewall National Museum & Archives, and The Deering Estate. She has also collaborated on A Heroic Sonnet Crown for Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and the Residents of Miami-Dade County, including the series We Who Rise from Saltwater, Let’s Sing!, and There’s a wave coming. One can hear it in the sky. She serves as Senior Editor of SWWIM Every Day, an online daily poetry journal for women-identifying poets, and as Poetry Curator-at-Large for The Betsy’s Writer’s Room. In 2023, she was Series Editor of From the Writer’s Room at The Betsy, a monthly column for The New Tropic. Her work has been featured by NPR, The Slowdown, Verse Daily, The Best American Poetry Blog, Split This Rock, The Hive, and Essential Queer Voices of U.S. Poetry. Her honors include a Julia Peterkin Literary Award (2023), International Latino Book Award Honorable Mention (2022), Eric Hoffer Book Award Honorable Mention (2022), First Horizon Award Finalist (2022), four Miami-Dade Individual Artists (MIA) Grants (2022–2026), an Elizabeth George Foundation Grant (2015), and a Florida Individual Artist Fellowship in Poetry (2007).
